Muto by Blu

Blu is an Italian street artist who has been creating wonderful street art around the world since 1999.  Besides doing some amazing graffiti work, he has also done some astounding video animation.  Below is his video “Muto” created on the walls and streets of Buenos Aires.  It’s pretty incredible.

Tarkovsky’s Mirror

This video is a collection of scenes from Andrei Tarkovsky’s film The Mirror set to one of my favorite pieces of music—Arvo Pärt’s “Spiegel im Spiegel.”  I know next to nothing about this Russian film, but the images are hauntingly beautiful.  A perfect counterpart to the music.


Guy Ben-Ner – Stealing Beauty

Guy Ben-Ner is an Israeli-born artist who created an eighteen minute film called Stealing Beauty.  The film, featuring the artist and his family, was filmed entirely in Ikea stores around the world.  They would set up an auto camcorder, insert themselves into the various showrooms, and begin acting out the soap opera-like script.  The scenes would last until they were driven away by Ikea staff members.  You can hear various store announcements being made over the loud speakers, shoppers passing by staring or even entering the scenes to shop for furniture or check prices.  The scenes filmed at various locations were then pieced together to make a whole.  The artist/actor may lie in a variety of different beds or sit at numerous different tables during the same scene.  It’s an intriguing piece of guerilla filmmaking.  Watch a four minute clip below.
