Danny & Annie

August 25, 2010

If you ever listen to Morning Edition on NPR, you’ve probably heard segments featuring the wonderful stories from the archive of StoryCorps.  StoryCorps is an independent nonprofit whose mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of their lives.  StoryCorps has also begun producing animated shorts of some of their best-loved radio stories.  Here is the touching story of Danny and Annie, a sweet married couple from Brooklyn.  You might want to have a tissue handy.

Justin Bieber Slo-Mo

August 18, 2010

Justin Bieber and his weird little hairdo seem to be plastered all over the place these days, but I wouldn’t know one of his songs if it hit me over the head.  He is one of those pop phenomena that leave me scratching my head.  Maybe it would help if I was a young teenage girl.

Anyway, I ran across something that actually made his music seem interesting.  A DJ who goes by the name Shamantis took Bieber’s U Smile and slowed it down 8 times its normal speed.  The result is haunting, ethereal, and much more interesting than the original could ever hope to be.  Click here to hear the elongated ambient version (35 ½ minutes long).  I guess even Justin Bieber can be listenable when adequately manipulated.
